Connors and Co Chartered Accountants is a progressive two partner firm with offices in Waterford and Kilkenny. We are currently expanding our Payroll, Bookkeeping and Accounting services by recruiting a trainee accountant to support our clients in these areas.

ABOUT YOU

Successful candidates will be graduates with relevant third level qualifications who are interested in pursuing a career in accountancy. Previous experience in accounting, payroll or bookkeeping would be an advantage but is not essential. You will have the full support of our experienced staff to help you gain the confidence and skills to become an Accountancy professional.

You will work on a full-time basis with the firm, remotely as appropriate while Covid restrictions continue, and then from our Waterford or Kilkenny office (according to our requirements).

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

As a trainee accountant, you will primarily be responsible for supporting a portfolio of bookkeeping and payroll clients. This will involve working with suitably qualified staff to ensure that the service we provide is delivered effectively and efficiently and meets our company and client expectations. 

We have developed a streamlined bookkeeping service, using Surf accounts and other automated process efficiencies. You will receive full training on all IT software packages required to fulfil your role.

As part of the payroll and bookkeeping team, you will develop skills and experience in the following areas:

• Maintaining and preparing of payroll records

  • Bookkeeping for clients, primarily using cloud-based accounting software tools

  • Assisting in the preparation of accounts for companies, sole traders, partnerships and other organisations

  • Assisting in Preparing tax returns and computations including Income Tax, VAT, and PAYE

• Other business advisory services when necessary
